Toy Cocker Spaniel Breeders

Story of Toy Cocker spaniel

They have been found in art and literature for almost 500 years. Initially in England they were grouped as “water spaniels” and “land spaniels” based on their weights. They were not used to retrieve the game instead they were used to drive the game towards a gun so they are also called as “gun dog”. In 1850s and 60s other types of cockers were recorded such as Welsh cockers Devonshire cockers and many more.

The spaniel club and kennel club were the one to differentiate the various types of cocker breeds. In America the American cocker spaniel was gaining fame than the English cocker spaniel both were declared as same type of breed but by 1946 they were termed as separate breed. After World War II they were used as a pet and sportive dogs and many breed were registered at kennel’s club.

Cockers are one of the cutest breed of dogs and a good hunting companion. Their long coat makes them look elegant. They are happy most of the time if they are treated properly. Their wagging tails express their happiness. They are often playful and make us happy by their fun filled activities as a dolphin with legs and fur. Their size is small consuming less food and space. They love to be loved and like to play with children. They have a life span of about 11 to 12 years and 2004 kennel club survey has shown that most of the death was due to cancer and old age.
