The cocker spaniel is the smallest member of the kennel club. Its popularity has increased heavily since 1930s. It is best known for its hunting activities and intelligence. It has a loving and gentle nature. It is pleasure owning a spaniel known for merry and sound temperament. They are very gentle and love to make family happy. They can be comfortable in our living apartment and easily adapts themselves with new habits.

They resemble to former English cocker spaniel belonging to a sporting group and both were considered as a single breed. But in 1945 the American kennel club recognized the two breeds as separate. They are very gentle trustworthy and caring pet. They love to play with children and balls, they swim easily. They don’t like to be alone and are very keen are observers. They are very curious in learning and show their merriness by wagging their tail. They require moderate exercise and training to teach the basic commands.
The dense hair which is soft and silky grows rapidly and should be groomed regularly else they will make them look ugly. They may usually suffer from ear infections, cataracts, glaucoma and many more. They should be purchased from a well reputed breeder and never be bought from a backyard breeder or puppy store. They should be checked properly to see that it’s free from genetic disease. They love to be with family and are soft in nature so they do not respond properly when treated harshly.
